Christian Family Movement at St. Meinrad

We are needing youth (8th grade &up) to babysit/help out with the children while parents are at the CFM Conference at St. Meinrad, Monday thru Wednesday, July 14-16. We will leave from Holy Cross at 7:30 am and return approx. 1:30 pm each day. Chaperones are also needed. If you would like to help, please call the Holy Cross Parish Center and let us know. This would be a great way to accumulate service hours for Confirmation!

Politics
As Catholic Christians our baptismal call challenges us to make real Jesus' mission and ministry of establishing the reign of God on earth. Christians are committed to transforming the world, continually making sure that justice, human dignity, respect, and rights prevail. Politically active Christians work toward insuring that justice pervades legislation and political activity. The US Catholic bishops have reminded Catholics of their moral obligation to activate their political responsibility. Catholics are challenged to select candidates that uphold values that will bring about the reign of God on earth. In documents such as Faithful Citizenship, the bishops offer guidelines aiding all Christians toward selecting candidates who would be consonant with Christian values. Recently, disagreements have arisen concerning which Christian values should take priority. Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, approved by the bishops in November, 2007, is based on the seven key themes of Catholic social teaching that should guide every Catholic voter. You can download and read the document at www.usccb.org/faithfulcitizenship/. In what ways does your faith help you discern which candidate to support this election year?

Automatic Electronic Giving Program
With vacation upon us, this is a good time to consider the Automatic Electronic Giving Program for your contributions to Holy Cross Church. This option is convenient and at no cost to you. It saves time by not having to write checks, allows you to donate if you are out-of-town, on vacation, etc. and can be done weekly or monthly. With your authorization, we will automatically transfer your donation from your checking account at the time you specify on your enrollment form. If you would like to participate, just fill out an enrollment form (in the back of church or at the parish office), sign your name and indicate the date. Return along with a voided check to the Parish Office.

MINISTERS NEEDED:
Our current ministry schedules take us through the first of September. However, I will be working on the next schedule (which will cover the rest of 2008) within the next few weeks. We are critically in need of more ministers for all the various options, and especially so for the Saturday evening Mass—Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters, and Ushers. Please consider being a part of the spiritual ministry here at Holy Cross. Give us a call at the parish office, 753-3548. Also, if any of the current ministers need to change times, ministry, etc., we need to have that
